Development Process
Getting a new product to market is more than just having a few parts made. It's done through a process called "Product Development". This development process starts with a great idea and ends, hopefully with a desirable product in hand. Morfing the “Bright Idea” into a “Final Product” is a process of thinking through issues & adaptations, working out details, and defining all the specifics -- like how it’s used, how it’s made, exact material’s, possible failure modes, required regulations, etc. Solid Design Solutions, Inc primary mission is supporting new product development from Concept through Production.
To help organize this complicated process we have separated the sequence of events into several phases. Between these ‘Phases’ are gating decisions about how and whether to proceed to the next ‘Phase’. The phases are outlined on the following pages and include the following:
- Concept Phase
- Evaluation Phase
- Detailed Design Phase
- Prototype Phase
- Final Design Phase
- Preproduction Phase
- Production Phase
